It was actually the thought of this outfit that inspired me to buy this skirt. I love it when a new piece fits seamlessly into your wardrobe. Expanding your outfit choices rather than leaving you wondering what on earth your going to pair it with.

As we headed out the door on the way to complete the mundane but necessary  task of grocery shopping I thought to myself ‘I should grab an umbrella’, I glanced outside and then decided I was sure we would be home before the weather closed in. The umbrella didn’t fit in my bag little bag anyway. So off we headed, taking the more scenic route so we could pause to snap these pictures.

With most my grocery list ticked off we had one more stop to make as we headed home. As we walked from one store to the next Simon pointed out the darkest greyest cloud and exclaimed something along the lines of it being a small cloud.

No more than 10 minutes later we stepped out of the final store… or more like cowered in the doorway of the store as we assessed our options. It was raining like someone had dumped a bucket of water upside down. If you have ever experienced a tropical storm, thats what it was like. A wall of water. Laden with heavy shopping bags and in heels, making the 6 minute dash home would most certainly have the same effect as jumping in a swimming pool. That “little” cloud wasn’t seeming so little right now.

So I made the call to take shelter in the nearest places, which to Simon’s delight was a pizza place. A slice of pizza each later we were discussing our options. The rain still relentlessly coming down thick and heavy. Simon agreed to sacrifice himself and run home to get the car. I was feeling just a tad bad about this, but no so bad that I would ruin a perfectly good hair day to go with him.  So I suggested that we wait just another minute… that magic minute. The cloud passed. Life continued on as if a swimming pool of water hadn’t jus been upturned on the west end, save for the few people who had clearly been caught in the downpour.

Moral of the story: Its Vancouver, you should ALWAYS have an umbrella on hand!
